Good morning Year 1!

L.O. To rewrite the story ‘The Camping Trip’ but changing the characters.

For today’s task you will be rewriting the story ‘The Camping Trip’ but changing the characters. You can include yourself and your family as the characters in the story or you can make some up, the choice is yours!

Remember to check your work using the picture prompts below as a guide:

Geography Time

L.O. to know about the weather and climatic conditions in particular localities and how they affect the environment and the lives of people living there.

Personal Goals

Click on the PowerPoint to find out about hot and cold climates.

Using the information see if you can colour in the map, in the document below, to show the different climates.

Once you’ve done this see if you can put the animals in the right locations. Why would they live in the places they live? For example, why is a polar bear’s fur white? Why does he have fur?

Than think about people. We all need air, food and water, and shelter; but depending on where we live, we need to dress differently. See if you can put the people on the map too. Think about why they are wearing the clothes they are wearing.

L.O. To recap Phase 3 sounds and practise Phase 5 sounds.

Here are your Phonics and Spelling tasks for today:

  1. Complete the tasks shown in the pictures below.
  2. Log onto Phonics Play and go to Children -> Phase 5 -> Flashcards Speed Trial -> Phases 3 & 5A. If you want another challenge, select Phase 5a instead of Phases 3 & 5A.
